I looked at the trailer for Black Panther. The purpose of it is to excite people. It makes you want to know more about the film, the shots used, the music and the way the trailer is put together is all excite the audience and this will make them go to the cinema and watch the film therefore, it's overall purpose is to promote and sell the film. The target audience is fans of the superhero genre as that is where this film sits but this film in particular could be aimed at black people as the majority of the cast in this film are black. It is probably aimed at males as this seems to be an action film and that's generally what men like. The trailer is structured in a way such as to intrigue the audience. It starts calmly with a conversation in a prison with sudden and quick bits of action in the conversation. Then things start to get more intense. It's like a hill. The start of the trailer is the slope at the bottom and as the trailer goes on, the higher up the hill it goes. The trailer seems to be telling the story of the film just by judging how the trailer is put together but trailers can be very misleading and the creators put shots in certain places to shake you off finding out any plot twists. The trailer gives you a small insight into the characters and their goals but it doesn't give anything major away. All the information regarding the films release (date, booking information, social media links) are at the end but in some variations of the trailer, the release date can be seen pop up during some of the action as like a slogan.
The overall look (lighting) is dark and dull but when you're in Wakanda, the lighting is bright and feels overly positive even if that positivity is not reflecting how the characters are feeling. A lot of the action sequences seem to be happening in the night or in a dark environment. This is most likely because the Black Panther suit is completely black and this can be used to give a slightly scary vibe or 'badass' vibe. The music also plays and is edited so it's in time with the action and this helps add to the intense feel that you get from this trailer.
I also looked at the trailer for the social realism film, I Daniel Blake. The purpose is to sell and promote the film but the film itself wants to raise awareness for people in the main character's (Daniel Blake) position. The trailer has a gritty and dark feel to it which is reflected by the lighting used. The trailer also highlights events in the film that can be relatable to the audience without giving any plot points away for instance when Daniel getting some help in a job centre.
I also analysed the Jay-Z music video for his song '99 Problems'. The music video is a hybrid as it has lots of performance aspects to it with shots of Jay-Z lip syncing the song as it plays but it also has theme elements in there as it has a few scenes about stereotypes for black people such as rap music and being pulled over by the police for nothing. You could argue that this has an aspect of narrative with it telling the story of a stereotypical young black man as it contains scenes that are very stereotypical to a black youth. It's overall aim is to promote Jay-Z as an artist and, by posting it on YouTube, making his music more widely available to the audience.

I also had a look at some of these banned adverts. I used a worksheet to help in my analysis and record why they were banned and who they reported to e.g. ASA, OfCom. The worksheet with my analysis is bellow.
