After taking the pictures, I have decided to do a scrap book design for the poster with lots of different pictures on them and with ripped paper on top of them displaying the main picture and the title as well as a slogan and quote.
I think I will use lots of straight edged shapes such as rectangles and squares because it is the shape of a leaflet. I may also use some round edged shapes like circles for things such as quotes and the title. I am also planning to use ripped paper for the poster which will include lots of pointy edges and it will look very rough. For the leaflet, all the pictures will be displayed in squares and rectangles as to fit in with the shape of the page (bearing in mind that the leaflet will be small A4 size). The colour of the shapes will be dull but also bright colours as to not detract from the pictures and text but also to be noticeable
Examples:
In terms of font, I have decided to use fonts that look old but also modern. Bodoni MT fits because it has an old look in capital letters and letters such as “g” but it also has a modern feel to it as it doesn’t look all old. The main colour for the text on the poster and leaflet will be black so it can easily be seen but for the poster I will try to make the colour stand out a bit more, maybe by making it silver as well as black because there won’t be much text on the poster.
I will be representing everything in a positive way as the goal of the content is to promote Cambridge and make people want to come here. I will portray everything in a glamorous way to achieve my goal. If something doesn't go my way for example the weather on shoot day is cloudy and grey, then I can alter the weather in photoshop to make everything look nicer. I will do everything I can to make sure that my representation of Cambridge is positive because if it is not, not only will the client not approve of the product but I will have also failed in my goal in making Cambridge look like a nice and good place to be. I can do this by, like I said, sightly altering the pictures I take to change the environment but I won't change things to dramatically as I do not want to mislead the readers as this breaks one of the ASA's rules and my product could get banned. My product could also get banned if I cause offence to people. To counter this I will run the poster and leaflet through different people to try and reach a wide variety of people of different a social group, race, religion e.t.c to make sure that the chance of my products offending someone is as small as possible. There could be an issue with privacy due to me taking pictures out in public and people may not like being in photos. To combat this, I will try and gain the necessary permission to take pictures on the certain locations but if the person is just passing by, then I do not need to ask for permission. By Law, I have the copyright of a picture that I took in a public place (according to the British Film Commission) regardless of who is in it. There will also be no names of people in either of the products I make. The names of people who said quotes, that will be featured in the leaflet, will not be released.
