D1: Justify choice of sourced information to be referenced within the article
Evaluating sources and information
Reliability I think my sources are reliable because I have taken the information from other article and I know they would have had to go through the same process as I have being that they would have to double check their information to make sure they're right. I understand that they may not have done this which is why I went and double checked the information gathered anyway. I chose to interview Emma because she is a parent and she knows what social media can do to them as she has seen it first hand. I also think that she was a good person to interview as she also uses social media and this allowed me to get her opinion of what she thinks of it and what she thinks of her children using it. Her interview made a very good contribution to the article. Relevance I think the story is exceptionally relevant to the audience as social media is very big and powerful amongst our society and I think people, especially parents, will want to know more about social media and the good things and the bad things too. Younger viewers may also be interested as they may very well have heard of social media sites like Facebook at school and they may want to know a bit more and what it can do to you. Accuracy I believe that my story is 100% accurate, as I stated above, my sources were from other articles and their information had most likely been double checked. Also I double checked all the information I had gathered and I know that it is all genuine. Accessibility As I am writing the story for Newsround, I know that I will have to aim for a young audience. To do this, the article will be very simple, no complex or long words. I will also make the article fairly short as to not strain the viewer's attention. To further keep the audience interested, I will make the article more personal by adding words such as 'you' to keep their attention. I will also only talk about the affects on teenagers as some of the viewers of Newsround are just becoming teenagers and this will make the story more about them and thus keeping them interested. Quality I think the sources are of a good enough quality. Emma gave good answers in the interview but personally I think I could have done the interview better for example I could have use a proper camera and not my phone and I could have got some proper lights to light up the interviewee to make the interview look more professional. Cost effectiveness If the story was written for a newspaper, I think that the story could help sell papers as this is a big and relevant subject and it could attract many adult readers as well as teenage readers who may want to know more about social media and the affects of using it.
